Swimming
Health Unlimited Family Fitness and Aquatic Center offers a
youth indoor swim team program from September through May
for children up to age 18. Our goal is to assist swimmers in
developing their interest in swimming, improving their swim
skills, preparing them for future competitive swimming and
developing their enjoyment of swimming as a life long
fitness activity.
What You Need To Know...
Swimmers must be able to swim 25yds freestyle and
backstroke in
order to participate.
Additional swim requirements may be required for
swimmers choosing to
swim Hurricane Silver or Hurricane Black.
All swimmers will be grouped by ability within their
scheduled practice time.
Adjustments may be made by coaching staff if the child’s
swimming ability
necessitates a change in practice grouping.
Roster Space is Limited.
Registration begins at 6:00am (August 15th for members &
August 22nd for nonmembers) for all levels.
Coaches
Head coach Amethyst Tymoch is a familiar face at Health
Unlimited, having taught swim lessons, youth and adult
stroke clinics, swim team and masters swimming activities
during her time here. Coach Amethyst has turned a fledgling
swim team into to a successful and popular program that
burst onto the competitive scene with an impressive
2006-2007 season. Prior to coming to Health Unlimited,
Amethyst was a youth swim league coach at the Cincinnati
Sports Club for four years while also teaching swim clinics
and a masters program.
“Coach A.” is currently one of Health Unlimited's most
successful and sought after swim lesson instructors for all
age brackets while also coaching our highly popular masters
swim program for adults 18 and over. Her enthusiasm for the
sport of swimming is contagious and is routinely passed
along to the children and adults she coaches. Her ability to
get the most of each individual swimmer and her
relationships with her swimmers set her apart and establish
her as a top level coach.
With the help of her experience and well-qualified assistant
coaches, Amethyst looks to build on the successes of past
seasons and establish the Health Unlimited Hurricanes as a
recognized and respected program throughout the state.
Hurricane
Teal (2
Practices a Week)
This option is for swimmers 10 years and younger
who are new to year round swimming. Hurricane Teal
offers swimmers the opportunity to be a part of a swim
team with less challenging time commitment. Teal
swimmers may choose a competitive or noncompetitive
tract after the first month of the season. The
competitive tract will allow participants to compete in
USS Swim meets with other Hurricane Swimmers. Two weekly
practices will focus on improving each swimmer’s stroke
techniques and endurance.

Frederick and Montgomery County Public Schools Swimming.
Swimmers will practice with the Hurricanes 6 months

represent their high schools in the Winter.

competition to their season. As a team, Hurricane Blue
swimmers will attend 8 swim meets, allowing them a
chance to see the results of their hard work and test
their abilities against other swimmers in USS sanctioned
events. Hurricane Blue swimmers will practice Monday,
Wednesday and Friday.

Hurricane Silver (Competitive, 4 Practices

program. In addition to Monday, Wednesday and Friday
afternoon practices, Hurricane Silver swimmers will
practice Sunday afternoons from 3:00pm - 4:00pm* and
swimmers 10 years and older will also have an
opportunity to participate in a Tuesday afternoon
Circuit Training Class from 4:00pm - 4:45pm. This
strength class will be specifically designed for the
Hurricane Swim team.
*Since
the Sunday practices are specifically targeting highly
competitive swimmers there will be no Sunday practices
the weekends of meets.
