National Senior Health and Fitness Day
Seniors age 60 and over can workout at Health Unlimited all day for FREE! Want to enjoy the club with your friends or family? Bring them with you – guests are also free when accompanied by a Senior on May 31st
8:00am – 9:00am Arthritis Plus (Training Pool) – A great cardio muscle-conditioning workout for all ages with any degree of arthritis with an additional cardio workout.
8:30am – 9:00am Fit Over 50 (Circuit Room) – A senior circuit fitness program that provides participants a group program designed to improve strength, flexibility and balance.
9:00am – 12:00pm Planning for Life Table (Front Lobby) – Senior Health Unlimited member Pat Skidmore shares the “checklist” of documents and preparations one should have when it comes to life planning with their loved ones. Pat can also take your questions about Advance Directives, Planning Future Health Decisions, and Maryland MOLST form (Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment).
9:00am – 12:00pm Diet to Go Food Sampling (Outside Circuit Room) – Diet to Go is an easy, affordable, and delicious meal based diet program that is like having a personal chef at home. Stop by their table and sample some of their great food options.
10:00am – 10:45am Water Walking (Lap Pool) – Enjoy the pool on your own by walking laps. Water exercise is a great way to get cardio vascular exercise while taking weight off of your bones and joints.
10:30am – 11:15am Making Sense of Living Wills and Other Advanced Directives (The Yard) – Lead By MOLST Trainer Alan Eason seminar will cover: ways a Person Can Deal With Future Health Decisions Now, Types of Advanced Directives, How and Why to Name Health Care Agent, What is MOLST.
10:30am – 2:30pm – Pickleball (Gymnasium) – Pickleball is Like Oversized Ping Pong Played on a Small Court with a Tennis Height Net. It’s a paddle sport for all ages and all athletic ability levels. It has very simple rules and is easy to learn and play. Sign up for your 30 minute Playing slot at the Front Desk.
11:30am – 12:15pm Strong-n-Balanced (Group Fitness Room) – Ideal for those 50+, this class increases strength and flexibility and improves balance for an improved ability for everyday tasks-and-more!
12:15 – 1:00pm Lifestyle Changes for Aging Gracefully (Training Studio) – Join Dr Rao from Shakthi Health and Wellness for this lecture. Reducing chronic illness, preserving your mind, preserving body structure and vision are common goals for many. Learn about the beneficial roles of antioxidants in food, slowing down memory loss with yoga and meditation, as well as the power of sleep and exercise in aging gracefully.
12:15pm – 1:00pm Splash-N-Dash (Training Pool) – Take a stroll or a brisk walk (and much more) in the water and enjoy the company of friends. Classes are held in the training pool.
12:15pm – 1:00pm Zumba Gold (Group Fitness Room) – Perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity.
